On February 21st, our city sparkled with bright colors and was filled with unbridled joy! Residents and visitors of Zhodino held a grand farewell to Winter and dashingly welcomed the long-awaited beautiful Spring at our folk festival "Merry Maslenitsa"! Our Zhodino boyar, the mischievous Baba Yaga, and, of course, the rosy-cheeked Maslenitsa put on a real show, convincing harsh Winter to give way to spring's warmth and sunshine! The children danced and played cheerful Maslenitsa games with our fairytale heroes! And the Zhodino strongmen showed who was the strongest by conquering the impregnable Maslenitsa pillar! The winners received not only valuable prizes but also a boost of energy for the entire year! And, as is the ancient custom, we gave the cold guest a grand sendoff – we burned a Maslenitsa effigy to ensure the last of the cold weather was banished! And to keep the festivities going, Zhodino's finest talents and our guests put on a truly festive concert! The folk song ensemble "Zarachanka," the folk vocal ensemble "U krugu syabrou," and the brilliant Honored Ensemble of the Republic of Belarus, the folklore group "Kupalinka," got everyone dancing!
